Local Farmers’ Markets

Fresh produce is an important part of maintaining an anti-inflammatory diet. However, going to the grocery store often can be hazardous and stressful amid the COVID-19 outbreak, so we have decided to post a list of local farmers’ markets that are open this season and enacting social distancing safety measures to reduce your risk of contracting the virus.

Forks Over Knives

Forks Over Knives is a documentary about the benefits of a plant-based diet that was released in 2011 and is available on Netflix. The accompanying book became a New York Times No. 1 bestseller. Their website is “filled with the latest research, recipes, and tools to help people at every phase of their plant-based journeys.”

Dr. Terry Wahls

Dr. Wahls is a clinical professor and researcher at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and author of The Wahls Protocol. Dr. Wahls was diagnosed with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis in 2000, but has been able to slow the progression of the disease using Functional Medicine to create a new diet plan.

Lisa Mosconi, PhD

Dr. Mosconi holds a PhD degree in Neuroscience and Nuclear Medicine, and is a certified Integrative Nutritionist and holistic healthcare practitioner. Her research is well known regarding the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease in at-risk individuals. She is passionately interested in how risk of memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease can be mitigated, if not prevented through the combination of appropriate medical care and lifestyle modifications involving diet, nutrition, physical and intellectual fitness.
